Carol Watkins - Director
Dr. Carol Watkins graduated from Oklahoma State University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1994 and began practicing in a mixed animal practice in rural NE Missouri. She moved to NC in December 1996 and began her career in emergency medicine at the Greenville small animal emergency clinic until its close in 2000. She then moved to Cary, NC in 2001 and joined the team at the Animal Emergency Clinic of Cary, becoming director of the practice in 2003. Dr Watkins has always enjoyed the varied and fast paced side of emergency practice with particular interests in canine geriatrics and surgery. Dr Watkins’ personal interests revolve around her home and garden in Cary which she calls her “work in progress” and which sparked her interest in home renovations.
Jennifer Shults
Dr. Jennifer Shults is a 2009 graduate of NCSU-CVM, and also earned her undergraduate degrees from NC State. She completed a 1 year rotating small animal internship at Southpaws Veterinary Specialists & Emergency Center in June 2010, during which 50% of her time was devoted to emergency and critical care medicine. Before & during veterinary school, she worked at Crossroads Veterinary Hospital and 3H Veterinary Services as a veterinary assistant. She was also active in multiple clubs at NCSU-CVM, including SCAVMA, RadVets, SCAAHA, SCAAEP, and Theriogenology club. She received multiple scholarships, including the Outstanding Senior Student Award sponsored by the Auxiliary to the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Eklin Excellence in Equine Imaging Award, the Friends of the North Carolina Veterinary Medical Association Scholarship Award, and a national Race for Education Winner’s Circle Scholarship. Dr. Shults is excited to be working in the Triangle area again and looks forward to working with Triangle are practices to give outstanding care to patients and clients.
